Box Culverts + Minor Bridges
We have the know-how and equipment to build all types of poured in-place structures including box culvert, minor bridges, end bent walls, embankment walls, gravity walls, and gabion walls.
We also modify many in-place structures and have installed several precast box culverts and control structures.
Mass Excavation
Westwind is the perfect choice for mass excavation projects such as lakes, canals, ponds, and levees. We not only have the experience and expertise to properly complete the job, but we also own and operate a large, diverse fleet of equipment.

Wetlands Mitigation + Ecological Restoration
WestWind is proud to be part of this important mission. Believe it or not, South Florida has not always been the most human-friendly environment. Our efforts encompass both wetland restoration and wetland creation. Restoration involves rehabilitating a degraded wetland or reestablishing one that has been destroyed, typically on land that was once a wetland or still retains some wetland characteristics.
On the other hand, creation refers to the establishment of a new wetland in an area capable of supporting and sustaining a viable wetland ecosystem. This process is often undertaken to manage wastewater, stormwater, acid mine drainage, or agricultural runoff.
Underground Utilities
Westwind offers a complete solution to all underground utility projects. We have the expertise, trained professionals, and equipment necessary to meet and complete any task. We have extensive experience working with and installing all sizes of water mains and underground utilities apparatuses. These include, but are not limited to: 4″ to 56″ pipes, water services, back flow devices, master meters, master well tie ends, continuity wire testing, wet tapes, lift station inner plumbing, all phases of storm pipe from 6″ to 96″, storm boxes, control structures, containment basins, overflow structures, and more.
Our fleet of company owned equipment is fully capable of handling all types of underground work. We own hydraulic pumps, trash pumps, centrifugal pumps, WellPoint pumps with complete WellPoint systems, jet pumps, and more. Most importantly, we have the talent and expertise to set the pipes ourselves. Our pipe foreman and supervisors are Confined Space and Trench Safety Certified and we own several certified trench boxes, rock boxes, and other items necessary to perform all the work we undertake.
Borrow Pit Reclamation
Westwind has the experience and know-how to implement borrow pit reclamation projects from start to finish. We will usher the project through the complex permit process, plus ensure the fill is compact and the reclaimed land safe for construction. A borrow pit is a regulated aquatic resource created by excavation of land. The process of reclaiming a borrow pit (back to land) is achieved by filling the “pit” with approved clean fill material.
Florida has many mining and borrow pit projects that are located next to or near residential communities, business centers and good access roads. This land could have substantial value if properly reclaimed. Westwind can help ensure that maximum property value will be attained.
Road Building
Modern highway and road construction has been an important part of Westwind’s repertoire since its inception. We continue to have some of the best personnel, management capabilities, and equipment resources in the business.
The safety of the traveling public is an important component of major highway construction, and Westwind successfully manages both driver and pedestrian safety through scheduling, public notification, and review and maintenance of traffic plans.
We have constructed numerous highways, bridges, and interchanges throughout Florida, helping to accommodate the state’s growing population. We construct retaining walls, bridges, surcharge embankments, and do landscaping.
Levee, Canals, and Dikes
Despite its growing population and urban construction, Florida is and always will be a swampy wetland at heart. Canals, levees, and dikes have made it possible for modern life to thrive south of Orlando. The waterways provide flood control, agricultural irrigation, and a source of recreation for the public. However, both natural and manmade canals require maintenance to remain functioning in our environment. Aquatic overgrowth and deterioration can render a canal useless in providing its vital services.
Westwind is proud to offer its expertise in a variety of levee construction services, ranging from initial levee construction to dredging, hauling, and levee removal. We redirect canals, regrade and reshape slopes, install geocell to provide stabilization, and perform general levee repairs and maintenance.
