POSITION: PROJECT MANAGER
JOB TITLE: Project Manager
JOB DUTIES
Westwind Contracting Inc. seeks Project Manager. This is a full-time role. The Project Manager will support Westwind Contracting’s heavy civil construction projects by assisting in the planning and management of project-wide heavy civil construction projects valued at up to $20 million to ensure project completion in a technically sound manner that complies with contract specifications and construction management best practices. The Project Manager will primarily be focused on the following duties:
- Lead and coordinate project meetings with owners, contractors, engineers, and supervisors to disseminate information, resolve issues, and provide status updates.
- Review, understand, and interpret technical drawings and specifications, resolve issues, and ensure construction activities comply with design requirements on heavy civil construction projects.
- Prepare documentation and apply for construction permits with federal, state and local government, including federal EPA NPDES permits and U.S. Army Corps of Engineer permits, as applicable.
- Review and approve work plans and procedures to initiate on-site construction, securing required approvals from the Engineer of Record (“EOR”) and owner.
- Manage requests for information (“RFIs”) and non-conformance report (“NCR”) corrective actions, obtaining approvals from the EOR and owner to ensure project compliance.
- Schedule and monitor project activities to meet deadlines, coordinating with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure timely completion of tasks in a technically sound manner.
- Perform quantity/material take-offs using Bluebeam Revu, review and validate bills of materials against drawings and specifications to confirm accuracy and compliance.
- Assist in preparing, estimating and reviewing project budgets and tracking project costs against budget to support cost control on heavy civil construction projects using Bluebeam Revu.
- Procure and review supplier quotations using supplier information, cost standards, and technical information from quality, engineering, and design teams to analyze quotations using Bluebeam Revu.
- Identify potential conflicts or delays in the construction process by reviewing project drawings, analyze the likelihood and impact of such issues, and recommend preventative measures.
- Coordinate subcontractors and coordinate change orders to ensure contractual compliance and project objectives are met.
- Create and implement quality control and assurance programs and schedule quality control and quality assurance inspections to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
- Coordinate surveying operations for construction activities.
- Use construction project management and design software (including AutoCAD, Bid2Win, Agtek 4D, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam and Procore) to perform duties as needed, including interpret technical drawings, manage project documentation and RFIs, and coordinate project scheduling.
No travel required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field and 60 months (5 years) of experience in any occupation in which the required experiences were acquired (must be progressive and post-bachelor’s). Required experience:
- Experience reviewing and interpreting construction plans, drawings, and specifications on construction projects valued at over $5 million.
- Experience managing requests for information and non-conformance reports on construction projects valued at over $5 million.
- Experience preparing and reviewing project budgets, performing or reviewing material take-offs, and analyzing supplier quotations and project costs on construction projects valued at over $5 million.
- Experience scheduling, planning, and monitoring construction project activities for projects or project segments valued at over $5 million.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors and coordinating change orders to ensure contractual compliance on construction projects valued at over $5 million.
- Experience developing and implementing quality control and assurance programs on construction projects valued at over $5 million.
- Experience leading project meetings with owners, contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders to disseminate information, resolve issues, and report on project status.
- Experience using Bluebeam Revu to prepare and review civil cost estimates and budgets, perform quantity/material take-offs, and analyze supplier quotations.
- Experience using AutoCAD to review, interpret, and mark up technical construction drawings and specifications, including to validate material take-offs and identify design conflicts on civil construction projects.
- Experience applying for construction permits with government entities, including federal governmental entities.
